Sunil Mahnoori has relentlessly been pursuing the cause of the revival of the Sharada script and is a front man in the resurgence of this ancient script being put to practical usage for the last decade or so. His handwritten calligraphic verse of Dinanath Nadimji, even found a place in the budget document of 2019 presented by the hon. Finance Minister, Union Government of India. Although choosing to stay away from the limelight, Sunil Mahnoori has written three books on creating awareness and basic education of Sharada and has even illustrated and designed the books himself. He has digitally designed the calligraphic font of Satisar Sharada and, in fact, the font is actually handwritten.
Sunil is also a pertinent example of the resilience, enterprise, and passion of the entire community since he did all this time-consuming, extremely detailed work while actively pursuing his regular, extremely demanding work as a Chef/Restaurateur, for which and for good reason, he has already created a big name in the city of Kolkata and beyond. Born in 1976 in Village Mahnoor Tehsil – Chadoora in Badgam district of Jammu & Kashmir, Sunil has been educated in Srinagar, Jammu, and Bhubaneshwar.  After finishing his education, he has seen great professional success in many prestigious hospitality groups including the Taj group of hotels, where he topped his Management Training Program. Although his core background is in Hotel Administration and is an avid reader has self-taught himself many disciplines through his sheer passion, perseverance, and hard work, including graphic designing, magazine publishing, photography, calligraphy, and various other skills.
The only Sharada magazine “Maatrika” and all the detailed books are a labour of love for Sunil and through these, he wishes to create the warranted awareness and aid the learning of this glorious language that has missed the collective consciousness of the people at large.
Sunil aims to write and promulgate many such books further and possibly even a novel in his native script of Sharada. Also, he is at present working on developing Direct optical reading software for Sharada manuscripts.
